Hey, I am Harshal!

I’m a UX Designer working on payment experiences for large scale enterprise products, currently designing for Citi’s Commercial Services team. I focus on making complex financial workflows easier to understand and use, with an emphasis on clarity, consistency, and thoughtful execution.

My path into design started during my undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Engineering. One course, in particular, changed how I thought about technology. It focused on identifying problems, uncovering root issues, and designing effective solutions. That was my first real introduction to design thinking and smart product design, and it showed me how thoughtful design can simplify everyday tasks and improve how people interact with technology.

That experience led me to pursue a Master of Science in Human Computer Interaction from Indiana University, where I deepened my understanding of user centered design and product thinking. Since then, I’ve been working as a User Experience Designer, applying those principles to real world, high impact products in the financial space.

Over the past year, I’ve led several end to end payment flow redesigns and collaborated closely with product and engineering partners from early concepts through delivery. I also enjoy supporting and mentoring other designers and contributing to shared patterns and approaches that help teams work more effectively together.

My design philosophy is rooted in three core principles: simplicity, intuitiveness, and consistency. I believe great design should feel easy to understand, natural to use, and familiar across experiences. When design gets these fundamentals right, it quietly does its job and lets users focus on what they’re trying to accomplish.

Outside of work, I enjoy hiking and spending time outdoors, discovering good beer, and hosting low key movie nights with friends. Growing up, sports were a big part of my life. I played almost every day and followed games closely on TV. Being part of teams taught me a lot about teamwork, strategy, planning, and leadership, lessons that still influence how I collaborate and think through problems today. I also enjoy long drives, which are usually how I unplug, reflect, and reset away from screens and meetings.
